The idea that the U.S. military would oversee a new nationwide presidential election — ordered under martial law by President Donald Trump — is “insane in a year that we didn’t think could get anymore insane,” a defense official tells Military Times.
Yet retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn promoted that exact idea Tuesday evening when he tweeted a press release from an Ohio-based conservative political organization.
Calling former Vice President Joe Biden’s Nov. 3 victory over Trump “fraudulent,” the Ohio-based “We The People Convention” took out a full-page ad in the Washington Times on Tuesday urging Trump to “immediately declare a limited form of Martial Law, and temporarily suspend the Constitution and civilian control of these federal elections, for the sole purpose of having the military oversee a re-vote.”
The organization called for the revote to include only registered voters with photo IDs, to be limited to only paper
- The lawyer for “Tiger King” star Joe Exotic says he is “very, very close” to getting a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump.
- Exotic, real name Joseph Maldano-Passage, is serving 22 years in prison after being convicted of crimes including two counts of murder-for-hire.
- “We are waiting on the pen to hit the paper,” attorney Eric Love told ABC News on Tuesday.
- Presidential pardons overturn existing, or prevent future, federal convictions. Most recently, Trump pardoned his former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in 2017.
- Maldano-Passage became famous after his exploits as a zookeeper were documented in the 2020 Netflix series “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.”

President Trump’s lawyers urged Republican state legislators in Arizona on Monday to override Democrat Joseph R. Biden’s victory in the state and choose presidential electors for President Trump.
Trump lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani said at an event in Phoenix that the state legislature must take the step due to alleged fraud in mail-in ballots.
“This is probably the wrong tactic but we’re down near the end,” Mr. Giuliani told the GOP legislators in a hotel ballroom. “I’m going to ask you to implore other members of the legislature to stand up to this. Do not be bullied. Do not be frightened.”
He said the legislature, which is controlled by Republicans, has the power to choose presidential electors regardless of popular vote totals.
“You can take it back,” he said. “Every dishonest vote disenfranchises the decent people who cast an honest vote. Have the courage to do that.”

ATLANTA (NewsNation Now) — A Georgia election official said Tuesday morning that the hand tally of ballots cast in the presidential race would be complete by Wednesday evening.
“We feel like we’re on a good path,” said Gabriel Sterling with Georgia’s Secretary of State Office. “The audit is on pace.”
Sterling said the by-hand recount is so the state can move to certify its election results. Once certified, the losing campaign can request a recount, which would be done using scanners that read and tally the votes. The AP has not declared a winner in Georgia, where Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by 0.3 percentage points.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger did not attend Tuesday morning’s news conference. Trump and his allies have criticized Raffensperger, saying that mismanagement and fraud tainted the state’s presidential election.

Machine recount of presidential race gets under way in Georgia; requested by Trump – News – Athens Banner-Herald
ATLANTA — County election workers across Georgia on Tuesday began a machine recount of the roughly 5 million votes cast in the presidential race in the state, just days after completing a hand tally that confirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s lead.
The recount was requested by President Donald Trump after certified results showed him losing the state to Democrat Joe Biden by 12,670 votes, or 0.25%. Under state law, the losing candidate can request a recount when the margin is less than 0.5%. Trump’s campaign on Saturday formally requested the recount.
Counties were allowed to begin the machine recount at 9 a.m. Tuesday and they have until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 2 to wrap it up.
Some counties only planned to get as far as testing the equipment Tuesday, with the actual counting to begin Wednesday. With

President-elect Joe Biden was certified Tuesday as the winner of the election in Pennsylvania, paving the way to a solid electoral college victory over President Trump.

After three weeks of vote counting and several ill-fated legal challenges, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Biden won the count by a fairly comfortable margin of about 80,000 votes.
“As required by federal law, I’ve signed the Certificate of Ascertainment for the slate of electors for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” Wolf wrote.
Nevada was also poised to certify a win for Biden as the state’s supreme court approved the results, clearing the way for the appointment by the governor of six electors for the Democrat.
Pennsylvania’s 20 electors, a mix of elected Democrats, party activists and other staunch Biden backers, will meet in the state Capitol on Dec.
Beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Georgia’s 159 counties can start recounting the approximately 5 million votes cast in the presidential race after the Trump campaign requested a machine recount. But while they’re tasked with finishing this third count by midnight Dec. 2, the secretary of state’s office is urging counties not to sacrifice accuracy for speed.
“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. You don’t want to rush yourself and cause mistakes and errors that you have to go back and fix … the smoother you do this, the better off you’re going to be,” Gabriel Sterling, the state’s voting system implementation manager, said in a virtual news conference Monday.

ATLANTA – President Donald Trump’s campaign requested a recount of votes in the Georgia presidential race on Saturday, a day after state officials certified results showing Democrat Joe Biden won the state, as his legal team presses forward with attacks alleging widespread fraud without proof.
Georgia’s results showed Biden beating Trump by 12,670 votes out of about 5 million cast, or 0.25%. State law allows a candidate to request a recount if the margin is less than 0.5%. Republican Gov. Brian Kemp formalized the state’s slate of 16 presidential electors.
The Trump campaign sent a hand-delivered letter to the secretary of state’s office requesting the recount in an election that has been fraught with unfounded accusations of fraud by Trump and his supporters.
