Longtime Telluride attorney accused of sexual relationship with client, ethical violations

A longtime Telluride attorney maintained a sexual and financial relationship with one of his clients and violated a dozen professional ethics rules between 2016 and 2020, according to a disciplinary complaint filed by Colorado’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel.

Attorney George Allen, who is in his late 70s, is accused of representing the 49-year-old woman pro bono in multiple cases despite their relationship and without obtaining her written consent acknowledging the conflict of interest as required by the state’s rules of professional conduct.

At times when Allen didn’t personally represent the woman, he paid for another attorney to do so, according to the 26-page complaint. He bonded the woman out of jail and filed baseless and frivolous appeals, lawsuits and other actions on her behalf, according to the complaint.

“The client was not comfortable with the situation but felt (Allen) had power over her,” the complaint reads.

Thousands Of Armenians Defy Martial Law, Demand Government Resignation Over Karabakh Peace Deal

YEREVAN – Thousands of demonstrators have demanded Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian’s resignation, as they took to the streets in protest at a peace agreement ending more than six weeks of fighting with Azerbaijan over the breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The deal, announced early November 10, sparked a furious reaction in the Armenian capital, with protesters defying martial law, filling Yerevan’s central Liberty Square, and calling Pashinian a traitor.

The Russian-brokered deal is a major defeat for forces backed by Armenia, who have controlled Nagorno-Karabakh since a 1994 cease-fire ended all-out war.

The deal, which ends fighting that has killed more than 2,000 soldiers and civilians on both sides, stipulates that Azerbaijan will keep a sizable chunk of the small mountain region, along with the surrounding areas captured during the fighting.

It also calls for deploying Russian peacekeeping troops.

In Yerevan, on November 11, several hundred protesters marched to the National

Murder conviction in case against James J. Watson vacated after Boston native served 41 years in prison in cab driver’s 1979 killing

James J. Watson’s son, Don Juan Moses, was just a year old when his father was sent to prison over claims he was responsible for the 1979 killing of 28-year-old Boston cab driver Jeffrey Boyajian.

The Boston native, who has repeated he never committed the crime, was able to celebrate his innocence with his son this week, the man’s lawyers said in a statement. Watson served 41 years in the case.

A Suffolk County Superior Court judge vacated Watson’s 1984 conviction earlier this month, and prosecutors opted to not pursue charges against him again this week.

“All that matters to me is I get to comfort my dad now and do things with my dad now,” Moses said Tuesday, according to the statement from attorneys Barbara Munro and Madeline Blanchette.

Although Watson was serving a sentence of life without the possibility of parole, he was released from MCI-Norfolk prison in

Britney Spears Is ‘Afraid of Her Father,’ Will Not Perform Under His Conservatorship, Lawyer Says

Britney Spears has lost her bid to oust her father, James Spears, as the conservator of her estate—and the singer’s lawyer now says she will not perform as long as he remains in the position because she is afraid of him.

On Tuesday Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny declined to suspend Spears, widely known as “Jamie,” from the position he’s held for the past 12 years. But she will consider future petitions for his suspension or removal from the position, according to the Associated Press, and she also granted the singer’s request that the Bessemer Trust, a corporate fiduciary, be named a co-conservator.

The hearing was conducted by phone and videoconference, the Los Angeles Times reports; the singer herself was absent but both of her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, were present.

Per the AP Spears’ attorney Samuel D. Ingham III told the court, “My client has informed
